Oslo, Norway — On Thursday, an estimated 15,000 people took to the streets of Oslo, demanding urgent action on climate change. The protest, organized by a coalition of youth and environmental groups, highlighted concerns over carbon emissions, deforestation, and extreme weather events affecting communities worldwide.

Chanting slogans such as “Our Planet, Our Future” and “Policy Now, Not Later,” demonstrators marched from the city center to the parliament building. Activists handed over a petition signed by over 200,000 citizens urging the government to accelerate the transition to renewable energy and phase out fossil fuel subsidies.

Elena Sørensen, a 22-year-old university student and one of the organizers, said, “We can’t wait for gradual change. Climate scientists have warned us for years. Every government must act now.”

Police reported that the protest remained largely peaceful, though some streets were temporarily closed. Observers note that this protest is part of a growing wave of citizen movements across Europe and Asia calling for climate accountability.
